Save Energy and Time

We get asked frequently if computers should be turned off or left running. Hibernation is a good compromise.

When possible, turn on hibernation by clicking the Start button, clicking Shutdown and choosing hibernation.

The benefit is it will leave your computer as is. If you have Outlook open, a spreadsheet and a browser window, they will all be in the same state when you power the computer back on.

The power used by hibernation mode is about the same as if the computer was simply plugged in and turned off.
